Innovis: the fourth bureau you were never told about

Innovis is the smallest of the four major consumer reporting agencies and the easiest to overlook. It's also where identity thieves like to hide. Here's how to pull, freeze, and monitor.

Innovis is the fourth national credit bureau nobody teaches you about. It has your file. Lenders (especially subprime and pre-screened offer generators) query it. Identity thieves love it because most consumers never freeze it. Here's how to pull, freeze, and monitor Innovis alongside the big three.

What Innovis reports

Personal identifiers, addresses, some tradelines (varies by furnisher), and pre-screening inquiry data.

Innovis is heavily used for pre-approved credit-card and auto-loan solicitations. If you don't want those, an Innovis freeze reduces them dramatically.

How to pull your Innovis file

Free annual disclosure at innovis.com/personal/creditReport.

Verify identity (Innovis will ask you knowledge-based-authentication questions).

Compare the file against your big-three reports. Any discrepancy is a §611 dispute — Innovis is a CRA under the FCRA.

How to freeze Innovis

Free security freeze at innovis.com/securityFreeze. Adds to your Experian / Equifax / TransUnion freezes for a complete 4-bureau lockdown.

After freezing all four, layer a ChexSystems freeze if you're identity-theft exposure conscious. That covers new-account fraud on the deposit side.
